Bougie Endotracheal Introducer
Bougie Endotracheal Introducer : – MAXMED Bougie Endotracheal Introducer
The tracheal tube introducer, known as the bougie, is typically used to aid tracheal intubation in poor laryngoscope views or after intubation attempts fail.
The Bougie is a straight, semirigid stylets like device with a bent tip that can be used when intubation is expected to be difficult often helpful when the tracheal opening is anterior to the visual field. A bougie may be inserted when the glottic opening is visible, but the endotracheal tube will not pass through the vocal cords. The bougie serves as a placeholder in these cases and avoids the need to remove the laryngoscope and re-perform direct laryngoscopy when the bougie is available.
Currently, several types of introducers are called bougie including the disposable , reusable curved tip, straight tip etc.
